My Daughter My Friend
I still remember, that last day in May
My life changed forever, in a very special way
The first time I saw you, my heart skipped a beat
I couldn't imagine, a love so complete
Your skin soft and smooth, your eyes dark and bright
Your smile ever present, from morning till night
Those baby years gone, a little girl stands
With flowing hair, and the prettiest hands
You had to grow up, way ahead of your years
Being mommy's big helper, for your sisters were here
Never complaining, or ever being sad
You gave up so much, giving all that you had
You're always there for me, without being told
Your love unconditional, your heart pure as gold
Words can't describe, the pride that's in me
For the baby, the girl, the woman I see
My life will be blessed, from beginning to end
As God gave me a daughter, and you gave me a friend.
